Declutter and Prepare for 2017

As 2016 comes to a close, it may be time to think about how you can declutter your home and your life so that you are prepared for the new year.

We often think of this cleaning process as part of a spring task (“spring cleaning”) but for those of you with a few extra days off at the end of the year, this might be the perfect time to declutter.
Laws of Attraction has put together a comprehensive guide to helping you declutter your home which includes a checklist.
Click here for the list of 150 things to throw away.
Things like:
  • Old towels
  • Old toiletries
  • Old makeup
  • Expired or sample-sized toiletries
  • Shoes that don’t fit or that you don’t wear
  • Freebie or promotional t-shirts you never wear
  • Recipe books you don’t ever use
  • Old party supplies
  • Unused plastic containers – especially those without a lid
  • Old print-outs
  • Expired vouchers
  • Coupons you will never use
  • Markers without lids and lids without markers
Make it a fun family activity. Select a time frame for everyone to work on a desk drawer, closet or even under the bed. At the end of the time – celebrate with a board game, a trip for ice cream or family movie time.
Decluttering doesn’t have to be a chore. Make it a contest to see who can fill up the most bags for donation or trash.
At the end of the project you will be clutter-free and ready to start the new year.
Once you are finished, consider the reward of having your home professionally “green” cleaned by your local Maid Brigade team. Give us a call. We’d love to help you prepare for the new year.
